And I loove fashion and fashion art.
But it ruins the whole healthy concept of the body (image).
We know that philosophically high heels make women not to run away;-)

It's not about size, is it ? If somehow the fixation would turn around and the bigger/fat would be considered as a CHALLENGE or DUTY ( to be), that would be the other way of making it all sick.

It is about telling you NEED TO IMPROVE/IMPROVE to the structured standards . It does not matter who sets them ( men, gov, neighborhood), but somehow all these rigors are targeted towards women, because we still buy it.. ( literally and not).
It is a power of RULING the RULE.

All the best!
Your red hair is fantastic!

not to mention..if womens sizes were real logical numbers then men would have an easier time buying gifts...not just for their wives but prob all their female family members (mothers/grandmothers/aunts..)

Excellent post. You're too cool & independent to follow arbitrary fashion ideologies, anyway.

@Amy, We should start a church for fashion refugees.
@Rachel, Wait... so thighs that can actually DO some kind of useful work are not the diameter of a coffee mug? I'm confused.
@Cynthia. Exactly my point! Who's fault is it... ultimately it's our own. We buy the cloths, magazines, advertising. Time to stage a revolt. How shall we begin?

Thank you! There is no reason a woman has to feel guilty going to a clothing store and asking for a size 8, 10 or 16, for that matter. These are arbitrary numbers designed to make use feel inadequate and negatively self conscious. It is a shame that the media today - now embracing the fact that they Photoshop body images - has turned the process of getting dressed (what should be an exercise of fun self expression) into daily puzzle on how to hide so-called flaws.

Where does the responsibility fall for changing this grossly distorted image of a woman's body? The fashion designers, the photographers, magazine editors, the end user, etc?
